Ghana’s vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has praised the work of a young innovator, Hayford N. Brako, who has created a unique invention.

YEN.com.gh understands that Brako, who is the chief executive officer of MedRx, has deployed a technological system that aids in the easy identification of medicines in pharmacies.

The mobile app assists patients to get immediate access to all drugs by directing them to pharmacies that have them in stock.

The technology is currently available for some pharmacies in about five regions and plans are underway for expansion across Ghana.

Dr, Bawumia explained that MedRx’s model is a perfect fit into the plans government has with respect to digitization of basic services.

For that reason, he went on, all efforts would be made to support such budding entrepreneurs in Ghana.

Social media users were excited about the news and shared their words of commendation about the app:

Tekson called it a great innovation that would really help.

Barimah hoped that the sky would be their limit.

Zakaria also noted that it is wonderful work that has been done.

Nkansah also assured Brako of support if needed.

Odom noted that Dr. Bawumia is the most iconic economist of our time.

Mensah predicted that under Bawumia's leadership, Ghana would stand tall in the world.

Meanwhile, information available shows that Ghana was the first country to receive Peace Corps Volunteers.

On August 28, 1961, John F. Kennedy, who was president of the United States, hosted a ceremony at the Rose Garden of the White House.

The event was to honour the first group of Peace Corps Volunteers who left to work in Ghana and Tanzania.

Two days after the ceremony, they arrived and began teaching in various educational institutions in the country.
